Police: High-speed chase starts in Charlotte and ends in Spartanburg Co., SC with discovery of “large bag” of fentanyl

SPARTANBURG CO., S.C. – A high-speed police pursuit that started in Charlotte came to a crashing halt across state lines Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say the chase began in Charlotte after CMPD officers attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop. The driver refused to pull over, leading police on a lengthy chase reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. They raced down I-85 before finally crashing in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

When law enforcement searched the stolen truck, they say they discovered a large bag packed with fentanyl. The driver was immediately taken into custody.
