City Hosts Event At Old Eastland Mall Site To Help Plan Its Future
CHARLOTTE, NC — Thursday evening, neighbors had the chance to help plan the future of the old Eastland Mall property.
The city hosted a community event on the empty Central Avenue site in hopes of sparking new enthusiasm for the once popular area.
The city sold 11 acres last spring to CMS for a new school. Now the City Council is trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the land.
More than 30 development companies have expressed interest in the Eastland site.
The city bought the property for just over $13 million back in 2012.
