Garinger High Student Arrested For Assaulting Girlfriend, Officers On Campus

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say a Garinger High School student has been arrested for assaulting his girlfriend and two officers on campus.

The incident was reported Monday morning in the parking lot of the school.  Officers say Jamari White was assaulting his girlfriend and then began assaulting officers when they tried to help the female victim.

During the encounter, officers deployed their Taser to stop White.  The first officer was unsuccessful in restraining White but the second officer was able to deploy his Taser and take White into custody.

White was transported to a local hospital as a precaution after being struck with the Taser.  He was then transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail and charged with two counts of assault on a government official, one count of simple assault and one count of resisting an officer.
