Wilson’s World: Introducing us to The Relatives On Ramp Resource Center
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson is visiting a new location this morning, The Relatives On Ramp resource center. The center is a part of The Relatives system of resources that any child or teen can utilize to help them feel safe and secure if they are dealing with any crisis such as homelessness or abuse. Over 4,700 students in CMS are currently homeless.
The Relatives On Ramp works with 18-24 year olds who are transitioning into young adulthood. They focus on education, housing and employment. Wilson talked with Bokai Kamara, who is proud to be one of On Ramp’s success stories, and Curtis Joe, Bokai’s mentor at the center.
While at The Relatives On Ramp Wilson presented his latest Wilson’s Moment of Good Award to Akeliah Stewart who is the Crisis Center Program Supervisor with The Relatives.
As the program supervisor with the Crisis Center Akeliah works closely with the kids who have come to The Relatives where they find a safe place from homelessness or serious family issues. One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning teamed up with Wilson to give Akeliah $500 in giftcards to take the kids at the center to enjoy a movie or just have a little fun.
Donations and volunteers are always needed. To see how you can help and find out more about The Relatives and The Relatives On Ramp resource center go to The Relatives website at therelatives.org.
