Olympic Gold Medal Winner To Lead Field Day For SUBWAY Fit For Life Participants

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — 2016 Olympic gold medal winner Francena McCorory will lead a group of Shamrock Gardens Elementary School in field day activities for the SUBWAY Fit for Life Challenge.

 

Francena McCorory is a United States Track and Field Athlete, who won the gold medal in the 4×400-meter relay at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The event is scheduled for Friday, May 5th, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at Shamrock Gardens Elementary School in Charlotte.  McCorory will join 250 students in the field day fun, which will include several run, jump, and throw style activities.

The SUBWAY Fit for Life challenge involves students tracking their healthy eating, physical activity and sleep for two weeks during the month of May, which is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.   Students who complete the challenge will receive a free SUBWAY sandwich.

This partnership between SUBWAY and USA Track and Field aims to encourage kids to engage in more physical activity by teaching them basic running, jumping and throwing skills through track and field.
