CMPD: Leave Your Guns At Home Before Going To The Airport

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is reminding travelers to leave their guns at home before heading to the airport, or you could pay a big price.

So far this year, 17 guns have been confiscated at the airport, and three of them have happened in the last week. Police say those people weren’t trying to break the law, but it is still your responsibility to make sure a gun is not in your bag.

In 2013, 26 guns were found at checkpoints in Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Last year, in 2016, there were 54 confiscated.

Anyone caught with a gun at the airport could face a fine of up to $3,000.
