Cankerworms Are Back For Their Annual Visit, But Were Your Trees Ready?

CHARLOTTE, NC — Those little green Spring hair accessories are already back in town and your trees could be paying the price.

They may be small, but those tiny green caterpillars are known for wreaking havoc on trees. Canker worms chow down on leaves, which then forces the tree to use a greater amount of energy to grow.

According to experts, the best way to avoid long-term damage is to band your trees during the fall.

If you didn’t get that memo however, all hope is not lost.

Experts say cankerworms are only out for a short period of time, and should be gone within a few weeks.
