Man Killed After Storm Flips Mobile Home In Union County, South Carolina Identified

UNION COUNTY, S.C. — One man is dead after strong storms moving through Union County, South Carolina flipped a mobile home, according to emergency personnel.

According to the Union County Sheriff, 66-year-old Jason C. Matthews was killed when the mobile home flipped over during severe storms that were moving through the area. The mobile home was located on Eaves Road near the intersection of Whitmire Highway and the Tyger River.

Heavy rain and strong winds caused damage to other areas and homes nearby, but fortunately there were no reports of any other injuries related to the storm.

The National Weather Service says they will assess the damages tomorrow as they try to determine whether a tornado touched down anywhere in the area.
