Catawba County Murder Suspect Released From Hospital, Now In Custody

MAIDEN, NC — The suspect in a Catawba County murder and attempted suicide case is now in custody.

Jeffrey Hoppes was arrested Tuesday and charged with the murder of Angela Tramble on March 7th. Following a standoff at a home on Topaz Drive, deputies say they found Tramble shot to death inside along with Hoppes who was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face.

Hoppes was taken to CMC Charlotte for treatment. Deputies say Tramble had been staying with Hoppes at the home.

Officials say Hoppes was arrested and charged following his release from the hospital. He is being held at the Catawba County Detention Center under no bond.
