West Charlotte Accident Leaves One Dead

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person is dead following a two-car accident in west Charlotte.

According to the CMPD, On March 16, 2017 at 3:13 p.m. officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Freedom Drive and Thriftwood Drive.

Reports indicate Isaac Vonzell Woodall, 57, failed to stop at the intersection of Thriftwood and Freedom and drove into the path of a 2009 Mitsubishi traveling west on Freedom Drive.

The collision caused both vehicles to run off the road.  The right front passenger in Mr. Woodall’s vehicle was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased victim has been identified as, 45-year-old, Wendy Stokes.

Neither Mr. Woodall nor Ms. Stokes was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Mitsubishi sustained minor injuries in the wreck.

Mr. Woodall was determined to be impaired and arrested for Driving While Impaired and Felony Death by Motor Vehicle.
