Union County Man Facing Robbery Charges

HEMBY BRIDGE, N.C. — Investigators say they arrested a man for robbing a convenience store and attempting to rob a Food Lion in Union County.

Rayford Storey, 49, is accused of entering the BP gas station on Idlewild Road in Hemby Bridge around 9pm on Monday and robbing the cashier with a knife.  Storey was identified as the suspect via surveillance photos.

While following up on the BP robbery, detectives linked Storey to an attempted robbery of a Food Lion on Idlewild Road that happened on Feb. 23rd.

Storey was arrested and faces one charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one charge of attempted common law robbery.  He remains in the Union County Jail.
