A School Bus Is Hit By A Rolling Car After Its Driver Was Involved In A Shootout And Bailed
CHARLOTTE, NC — A school bus was involved in an accident Friday afternoon when a car involved in a shootout rolled back into the bus after the driver jumped out.
According to reports, officers responded to a shooting call just before 3:30pm on Remount Road after the driver of a white sedan exchanged gunfire with another car. Police say the driver of the white car got out and ran, leaving the car to roll back into the school bus that was stopped on Cowles Road. Police say they were able to locate that driver and have him detained.
The bus was NOT hit by bullets, according to officials. Police are still looking for the other car involved in the shooting.
CMS says the bus involved in the accident was bus number 1650 from Sedgefield Elementary. Officials say 19 students were on board and no one was injured.
Those students have been transferred to another bus and are en route to their homes.
