Wilson’s World: Preparing for the Time Change with the Red Cross
Change your clocks and change your batteries to stay safe in your homes this summer.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Red Cross Charlotte-Metro Chapter is celebrating 100 years of serving the community while reminding us to change our clocks and change our batteries. It’s the kickoff to their home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event with Piedmont Natural Gas. The event is to remind us that when we move our clocks up one hour for daylight saving time this Saturday night, to also change the batteries in your smoke detector.
Wilson was at Bojangles on E 3rd St where members of the Red Cross and Piedmont Natural Gas joined him to talk about the event and the big anniversary of the Red Cross Charlotte-Metro Chapter.
To help us prepare our homes for home fire safety, Piedmont Natural Gas is giving away free home preparedness starter kits. Members of Piedmont Natural Gas and the Red Cross will be going through communities in Charlotte to make sure they have smoke detectors and have them installed properly in their homes.
Since 1917 the Red Cross Charlotte-Metro Chapter has been helping Charlotte area families during times of major emergencies and disasters. And to celebrate their centennial anniversary Wilson will be visiting with them at least once a month over the next year as they continue their work in community events and projects.
