Iredell County Bus Driver Charged For Forcing Student Off Bus
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — The Iredell County Sherrif’s Office says an Iredell County bus driver has been charged following a bizarre incident with a bus rider.
Reports indicate at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, a child knocked on the door of a residence in the Bell Farm Road area.
The 12-year-old student at East Iredell Middle School stated he was forced to get off the school bus on Skyland Drive for “misbehaving” and walked to the nearest house. The child asked the residents to call his mother to come get him.
Sheriff’s officers responded to the scene and turned the child over to the family members.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says Maria Victoria Sanchez, 43, was charged with Misdemeanor Child Abuse. She bonded out of jail Wednesday night.
Ms. Sanchez is currently employed with Iredell County Schools as a teacher’s assistant and bus driver. She has been suspended with pay. She is due in court to face the charge on May 1, 2017.
