Wilson’s World: Celebrating Dr. Seuss with Promising Pages at Hidden Valley Elementary

Celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America Day with the students at Hidden Valley Elementary School.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!   And what a better way to celebrate than reading!  Wilson dressed as his favorite “Cat in the Hat” enjoyed his morning with students and teachers at Hidden Valley Elementary School and volunteers with Promising Pages.

But, it is not only Dr. Seuss’ birthday, it is also National Read Across America Day.  So, along with volunteers with Promising Pages, the day at Hidden Valley will be all about reading.  To get kids excited about reading they have hidden 365 wrapped books around the school for the kids to find, take home and enjoy.

More than 60,000 children in the Charlotte area are at risk of falling behind in their education due to their inability to read proficiently.  Promising Pages mission is to help every one of these children by giving them books to read and encourage the excitement for reading.

Promising Pages is currently in their their Books on Break event.  They are holding book fairs in schools so kids can get books to read during their summer break.  And they are in need of more books.  Find out more about how you can donate new and upcycled books as well as your time and of course financial support at their website promisingpages.org.
