UNCC Student Carjacked At Gunpoint, Suspect Leads CMPD On Chase

CHARLOTTE, NC — One person is in custody after police say he robbed a UNC Charlotte student at gunpoint, stole her car, and then led officers on a pursuit.

Police say the incident happened just after 9pm at an apartment complex on Education Way off of E. Mallard Creek Church Road in northeast Charlotte. The suspect then led officers on a pursuit, according to reports, which ended in east Charlotte when he crashed the vehicle near E. WT Harris Boulevard and Hickory Grove Road.

The victim was not hurt during the robbery, and the suspect has been taken into custody.
