The Charlotte Hornets And Lowe’s Complete Their First Mission Critical Project

CHARLOTTE, NC — Teachers at Steele Creek Elementary get a new teachers’ lounge thanks to work done by Lowe’s and the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets and Lowe’s completed this first project as part of their new Mission Critical program. Officials say volunteers from both organizations worked together to complete the renovations, which included new dining areas, flooring, cabinets, paint, and appliances.

According to a release, the program is a partnership that will address safety and physiological needs at four Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Officials say other projects will include a soil erosion and front entrance safety project at East Mecklenburg High School; updating the basketball court, butterfly garden and fencing at the University Park Creative Arts School;

and a new outdoor classroom at Long Creek Elementary.

Those projects are expected to be completed throughout the coming months.
