Property Management Fined After Tuesday’s East Charlotte Apartment Fire
UPDATE: Officials say property management has been fined $5400 for “missing/nonexistent” documentation of smoke detectors for each apartment at the complex.
CHARLOTTE, NC– Tonight we know a heating unit caused a fire that burned through some apartments in east Charlotte. 19 people have been displaced including seven children.
The fire broke out around 5:30 this morning at the Park Creek Apartments off Milton Road.
One neighbor describes the scene as she and her children were forced to evacuate.
“It was just going into flames, the whole building. It was a disaster.”
10 apartments were affected. The Red Cross is helping those displaced. The Charlotte Fire Department estimates the damage is around 200 hundred thousand dollars.
